Here is a snippet of what our playroom looked like before we decided to do a whole shelving unit on this wall. When we first moved into our house, we only had enough furniture to furnish one of the living rooms. Our home is older, and the floorplan consisted of two living rooms rather than the open great rooms you see now. We decided to furnish the living room that was attached to the kitchen first. This room was our living room and playroom for the longest time. When we finally got around to furnishing the other living room, we were able to make this room the playroom exclusively! I don't have photos of it, but this room had no order to it — random shelving units here, a changing table there, and toys everywhere. In my attempt to make it look halfway decent, I decided to put some decor on the walls.
Since the wall was massive, I was at a loss as to what to do. I then came across the idea of having your children's photos blown up! Since these frames would be hanging over the couch where the children play and jump, I wanted to do something plastic to prevent anything from breaking! These black movie poster frames did the trick! Since redoing the playroom, we have now moved this set up into my husband's home office.
