Apparently, there are a lot of opinions about sending kids home with party favors. I read several articles where people are saying it’s just cheap and wasteful items, while others argue it is fun for the kids, and it is a great way to say “Thank you for taking the time out of your weekend to come celebrate my birthday with me!” I fall under the latter with this one. As a kid, not only did I love getting party favors at my friend’s birthday parties, but I loved picking out the contents that would go into the ones I would give out at my birthday party! I did read a suggestion where a mom gives out a small book to each child as a party favor, and I thought that was a great idea, but unfortunately, I read that suggestion after my son’s birthday. Regardless I went the old fashion way and found this awesome Justice League set of party favors!
I had a few extra from the party and ended up putting them in my children’s prize box. The prize box works wonders in our house! As a former preschool teacher, I am all for a reward system! I usually start with a sticker rewards chart (Amazon has a great magnetic one you can find here) and once all the boxes are filled, they can pick a toy from the prize box! This way, they are rewarded for their work without having to buy them something extravagant. I will say when it is a significant milestone, like potty training, the end reward is much more meaningful. I like to have a prize box because it is a small incentive that, in my experience, gets kids to do tasks that they may initially fight you on. So if your child is into superheroes, this Justice League set is excellent for party favors or your home prize box!
